Belgium plans to buy 169 wheeled 4x4 armored recon vehicles under its Reconnaissance 2000 program. Trials will begin in May; a winning vehicle will be selected in December. The new vehicles will replace British-built Scimitar tanks (armed with 30mm cannons), but will carry only sensor pods and 12.7mm machineguns for self defense. --Stephen V Cole
