The Pentagon is working on a new "patch" (like those that deliver nicotine to people trying to stop smoking). This could deliver vitamins and key nutrients to a soldier who was unable to get real food, allowing him to continue functioning for several hours. Such a patch, being very small, could be carried by each soldier as an emergency backup.--Stephen V Cole
