Iranian State Television reports that the country has tested a solid-fuel tactical ballistic missile with a very high accuracy rating. No details were given, although Iran insisted that the missile was developed locally. Iran is known to be tooling up to produce copies of the Chinese M11 (range 400 kilometers, warhead 500 kilograms, due to enter service this year) and M9 (range 800 kilometers, warhead 320 kilograms, due to enter Iranian service in 2003).--Stephen V Cole
