On 11 April, the acting commander of the 10th Mountain Division, Brigadier General Thomas Goedkoop, and Army Chief of Staff General Eric Shinseki presented awards to homecoming heroes of the 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment,10th Mountain Division. LTC Paul LaCamera, who commanded the 10th Mountain's Task Force during Operation Anaconda, received the only Silver Star Medal awarded to date in Afghanistan.

During the hour-long ceremony, soldiers received the Bronze Star for Valor, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge with Star. MAJ Thomas Byrne, MAJ James Hall, CSM Frank Grippe, SFC Robert Healy, SSG Roberto Brault, SSG Andrjez Rapel, SGT Craig Brown, SGT Ryan Brown, SPC Jame Brossoie and SPC Mark Henry received the Bronze Star Medal With Valor. - Adam Geibel
