The Russian aircraft design bureau Sukhoi has completed trials of its Su-27KUB (Su-33UB) two-seat combat trainer on board the aircraft carrier Kuznetsov, using the lone prototype. Two more aircraft are under construction. The two-seat aircraft would not simply provide training, but could be the basis for a host of sub-types including airborne jammer, anti-submarine, and strike variants. --Stephen V Cole
