The GAO has issued an unusually un-critical report on the F-22, while issuing a report projecting problems for the Joint Strike Fighter. The GAO is concerned that some of the technology needed for the JSF is not sufficiently mature. The GAO notes that eight different kinds of technology are needed, and none of them will be ready on time. If any one of the eight areas is delayed, perhaps by a lack of funding, the program could be delayed or billions would be needed for a backup system.--Stephen V Cole
