The United Arab Emirates is buying 180 used M113 armored personnel carriers from Switzerland, at $53,000 each, and donating them to the Iraqi army. The vehicles are old, but well maintained, and will be used to equip police and army units. Because the vehicles are American made (some are still in use by American troops), it will be easier for the U.S. to help the Iraqis with maintenance.
