The US Navy has decided to pay Raytheon to develop a version of the Tactical Tomahawk naval cruise missile that can be fired from torpedo tubes. When the Tactical Tomahawk was first developed, the Navy saved money by developing only a vertical-launched version. The British (who have no vertical tubes in their submarines and who cannot buy more Tomahawk-IIICs -- the Land Attack version -- because that production line has been shut down) have wanted a version of Tactical Tomahawk that can be fired from their submarine torpedo tubes.--Stephen V Cole
