Coalition forces launched "Operation Avalanche" in southern and eastern Afghanistan. Four infantry battalions are involved, plus detachments from Special Forces, Afghan army and local militia. These operations don't always accomplish a lot. For example, from November 7 to December 7, Operations Resolve in the northeast produced only a few skirmishes with Taliban groups. However, it is believed that the many patrols disrupted Taliban operations greatly.
