In central Afghanistan, a tip that Taliban were hiding in a remote compound, led to Afghan troops going to investigate. The Afghan troops were fired on. American troops with them called in an air strike, and two smart bombs destroyed the compound. Eight Taliban fighters were identified after an examination of the rubble. The Taliban had not been seen in this area for over a year, which is why the Taliban presence was quickly reported.
