US officials are urging Colombia to use $234 million in military aid to upgrade their C-130 and OV-10 aircraft, rather than buying new Super Tucano Emb-314 attack aircraft. The Colombians were warned that more aid would be threatened if they insisted on buying the new aircraft.

Troops captured a top official of FARC, Juan Arcos Pena, who is in charge of much of the organizations finances. Several months of investigations led to this arrest.
