 Pakistan's crackdown on Islamic radicals in the last year included seizing bank accounts of banned groups, and making fund raising illegal. Some of the banned groups have responded by turning to robbery and extortion. The police have responded by jailing many Islamic radicals for these crimes. The criminal activity also hurts the public image of the Islamic radicals.
