 Islamic radical violence in Kashmir left eleven dead and 17 wounded. In southeast India, police operations against Maoist rebels left four rebels dead. Attempts to negotiate with the Maoists over the last few months have largely failed, with the Maoists taking advantage of ceasefires and truces to try and expand their power.
