Combat operations continue in Aceh, with the army using patrols and attack aircraft to find and destroy rebel camps in remote areas of the province. This results in several rebel deaths a week, and several more rebels surrendering or being captured. An uglier conflict takes place within the towns and villages, where rebels terrorize civilians who will not support the rebels. The police are playing the same game, and for civilians caught in the middle, it's often a no-win situation. Either side will kill suspected "collaborators."
