On January 19th, his last full day in office, President Clinton signed a deal with Israel pledging to increase US military aid (now $1.8 billion per year) by $60 million per year until it reaches $2.4 billion per year. The White House indicated that this was President Clinton's way to keep a promise to upgrade strategic relations with Israel.--Stephen V Cole
