October 19, 2010: The newly elected president Aquino has unleashed a large number of anti-corruption investigations. To the surprise of few Filipinos, this soon led to former Philippine president Gloria Arroyo. It's common for former presidents to get caught up in corruption investigations.

October 16, 2010: In the south, there were several clashes with NPA rebels, leaving three soldiers wounded. But NPA lost one of their camps, which was what the army patrols are looking for. Without the camps, the rebels are much less effective.

October 11, 2010: MILF has offered to help the police and army find kidnapping victims. An increasing number of MILF members are turning to crime as a profitable sideline. The MILF leadership ignored this activity for a long time, and denied it. No more. MILF is also setting up special courts to try misbehaving MILF members.

October 5, 2010:  Anti-corruption officials have halted a $90 million deal to buy Polish helicopters. Corruption in military purchases, but it is usually not detected until after the deal is done.
