Due to funding problems, the Georgian parliament voted on 28 June (by a margin of 128-1) to cut the military by 19% by the end of the year. The current force of 47,500 will be reduced to 38,400. The Border Guards and Interior Security forces will also be cut by the same percentage.-Stephen V Cole
